No place: No date, but early 70s. Original copy of the author’s typescript with corrections of the first six chapters (of ten) of his children’s book on 29 pages. Inscribed by Härtling to Literary agent Rainer Heumann: “Lieber Rainer, / dies ist das Stück / des Kinderbuch- / manuskripts / Ihr / Peter. ” Together with the literary agency’s original envelope inscribed: “Peter Härtling / DER HURBEL” (sic). Not the very best of copies, still very rarely offered for sale as Hesse’s works were banned by the Nazis and many copies were destroyed. The first important book by the winner of the 1946 Nobel Prize for Literature. Sold.
